 DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL DESK:

T

he Kenya school system offers the teachers an opportunity to serve in various capacities depending on one’s professional qualification, interests and ambition.

The deputy principal’s office is one such indispensable office. The officer in this capacity is charged with overseeing issues like curriculum implementation, students’ discipline, creating cohesion between the immediate arms of the school students’ body, teachers, support staff and teachers among other duties.

It is with pleasure that I do say that the Vyulya girls’ school has had tremendous achievements in the last few years in two important areas viz:

Discipline – the students have improved and the larger population is quite a discipline lot.

T

he academic performance has also improved gradually from 6.200 (c) in 2008, 6.950 (c+) in 2009 and 7.323 (c+) in 2010.

This may not appear like a great job but looking at the marks that the students had reported with in their first year, it is a fitting thing to say there was value addition to the individual.

This success has been possible through the guidelines provident by the following:

Vision statement:

Quality love for quality success.

Mission statement:

To succeed through hard work and proper planning management.

Motto:

Knowledge is immortal.

Our core values:

Team work, discipline, professionalism, integrity, leadership and unity of purpose, transparency and accountability.

Our idea as a school is to bring out the best in students whether in brainwork, physical activities, tapping talents and developing leadership skills. This is made possible by the students learning to intrinsically practice the core values to enable the students fit into the society as an all-round individual.

A deputy cannot work in isolation therefore requires total support from immediate boss; the principal, members of the Board Of Governance (B.O.G), teachers, non-teaching and support staff, parents and other well- wishers.

As it is a noble thing to do then, my sincere wish to thank all the groups above cannot go unmentioned.

Education should be a tool to renew who we are and the Bible fully well summarizes this in Romans 12:2…

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”- through acquiring knowledge!

From: Mrs. P.Nzioka- Deputy Principal.
